Shirlene definitively chose Jesus to be her Lord and Savior at a very young age. Since that time, she has followed Him. Beginning work in children’s ministry at the age of 12, Shirlene has continued teaching youth in various capacities. God had a divine appointment for Shirlene and Scott’s paths to cross in college. Shortly after they were married, they started working in ministry together desiring to serve wherever the Lord gave them opportunity. Over the past 7 years Shirlene has transitioned from being a mom of 4 teenagers to approaching the empty nest and has had the privilege of caring for her mother who is in her 90’s. Shirlene enjoys family and friends, being creative in some form or fashion, and learning how to be a grandma. Shirlene’s passion is two-fold: to allow the Lord to use her to share what is eternal life to people, no matter their age. John 17:3 says, “This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.” Then starting right where they are at (and where she is at), Shirlene desires to be available for “the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ” – Ephesians 4:12, 13. Shirlene is a firm believer that “God does not call the qualified, He qualifies the called” – Betty Chesbro.
